Not Just for Kicks

This has been an eventful 365 days for me when it comes to kickball. So far, I have:

- Been on the losing team of the spring 2008 Studio championship game.

- Qualified for the Vegas tournament.

- Went to Vegas for said tournament.

- Got slaughtered in group play with an impressive 1-2 record (the lone win came from a forfeit).

- Played slosh ball for 3 hours in a public park after being slaughtered in group play in the Vegas tournament.

- Created a new position on the Kansas City board.

- Was mostly ignored in the new chairmanship because kickball is stupid here.

- Started a newsletter for the division.

- Was asked to freelance for Houlihan's.

- Got thrown under the bus when one person threw a hissy fit at something I wrote in the kickball newsletter.

- Was vindicated after my team lost in the fall 2008 semi-finals when they realized that strategy is actually a good thing.

- Was on the news, twice, in a human interest story about kickball (Video 1) (Video 2)

My kickball opus, however, came this week when the team I played for in Los Angles before I moved was featured in Southwest Airline's "Spirit" Magazine (Click for the article).

I am not mentioned by name, but I am in one of the pictures and that's just as awesome.
